Our submission to the 2022 One Page Dungeon Contest.

School of Chalk explores the aftermath of the falling out of a powerful wizard and her daughter. Esmée Gardner is a scholar and mother that only wanted to see her daughter, Jane, follow in her footsteps as an educator at her school. While Jane learned new ideas quickly and communicated them well to others, her dream was to travel the world, not study books all of her days. One day Jane left without notice, leaving her mother wondering where she went wrong. Her grief led to insanity as she was forced to deal with the struggle of losing her daughter and best friend. She created a series of trials in hopes of finding scholars to fill the void Jane had left. Those that attempt the trials must alter scenario descriptions using magic chalk to manifest a more desirable outcome. Esmée, though, refuses to accept Jane is truly gone and will do everything in her power to prevent anyone from actually completing the trials. Details of Esmée and Jane’s relationship can be found throughout the dungeon and it all culminates in an epic battle against Esmée herself and a simulacrum of her daughter, Jane.
